Dan-yr-Ogof National Showcaves |
|
The National Showcaves of Wales at Dan-yr-Ogof are only a couple of minutes down the road from Pentre Riding Stables. The centre at Dan-yr-Ogof includes 3 cave complexes, the famous dinosaur park, shire horse centre, and an animal park with llamas and South American maras.
The caves at Dan-yr-Ogof were discovered by the Morgan brothers in 1912 and named for their farm (Dan-yr-Ogof in Welsh is literally "Beneath the Caves"). Paid entry to the caves includes the dinosaur park and the shire horse centre.
Access to the stone circles and the animal park is free, and you can relax amongst llamas, sheep and other wild animals, or view the amazing variety of rabbits in the rabbit hotel, or take in the beautiful maras.
Ystradgynlais Info's webpage of photographs from the animal park can be viewed here and there is also a special page dedicated to the maras. |
