Pentre is in the Central section of the Brecon Beacons National Park, just beneath Cribarth Mountain, which not only provides excellent pony trekking, but has on its slopes many interesting historical remains. There are plenty of opportunities for walking and sight-seeing in the Park, either by following the many footpaths and trails, or by joining a Guided Walk. Full details of Guided Walks and other events can be found on the BBNP Web site.

The Brecon Beacons themselves lie to the East of Pentre and the two peaks of Pen Y Fan and Corn Ddu are unmistakable landmarks. In the shadow of the mountains lies the market town of Brecon, which has much to offer the visitor including a Castle, Cinema, Theatre, Canal, intriguing back streets, shops, pubs and cafes. The Mountain Centre at Libanus, just outside Brecon, is a good place to visit for maps and information.
